GCoM welcomes you at the European Sustainable Energy Week 26-30 September 2022
The 2022 European Sustainable Energy Week theme is ‘Going Green and Digital for Europe’s Energy Transition’, with speakers and participants in Brussels and online.
What is the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW)?
Organised by the European Commission and the European Climate Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) is the most important event in Europe dedicated to renewables and efficient energy use in Europe. Its hybrid high-level Policy Conference, both onsite and online, will gather energy stakeholders to discuss burning energy issues, debate on newest policy developments and brainstorm new ideas and solutions to deploy renewables. The EUSEW 2022 is taking place in Brussels (and virtually) from 26-30 September. You can find more information on the EUSEW website.
What is the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) doing at EUSEW?
Cities and local governments are well-positioned to show the global community what ambitious climate and energy planning and action looks like. Home to more than half the world’s population, most of the built environment, and three-quarters of global gross domestic product (GDP), cities are paramount to addressing the energy crisis. GCoM signatories are committed to the energy transition. GCoM’s participation at EUSEW is important in order to share and learn from the experiences of all signatories and face the upcoming energy crisis.
During EUSEW, the GCoM Secretariat will be sharing a stand with the Covenant of Mayors – Europe and the European Covenant of Companies for Climate and Energy (CCCE). The CCCE is a newly-launched European Commission (DG ENER) pilot initiative to encourage and support companies to step up their contribution to a clean energy transition. The initiative aims to provide practical, step-by-step guidelines and technical assistance to European companies to help them take concrete actions resulting in the decarbonisation of their businesses and lower energy bills.
Come and meet us at our joint stand to find out how cities and companies can join forces towards a net zero future!
