City trees are an effective natural way of fighting climate change and its impacts. They make the city more resilient to floods and heatwaves, regulate air quality and make the city healthier, more livable, and more attractive to communities. City trees shade can also suppress pavement deterioration. By leveraging mobile mapping technology to individually identify all the trees based on their dimensions and dendrometric attributes (and understand the size of the tree canopy), the tree analysis can be fed into a city-scale tree digital twin, which can then be used to ensure tree health and monitoring, enhance ongoing road and sidewalk maintenance, and decrease maintenance costs.
